ST12 is a cold-rolled Carbon Steel Plate. Cold rolled steel refers to the process by which steel is rolled at room temperature, rather than being heated and rolled at high temperatures like hot rolled steel. This process results in higher steel surface finish and smaller dimensional tolerances.
ST12 is a common grade of cold-rolled carbon steel plate. Compared with other carbon steel plates such as wear-resistant plates, pressure vessel plates, A36 carbon steel plates, its carbon content is very low, usually about 0.10%, which makes it easy to form and weld. ST12 is commonly used in applications that require surface finish and good formability, such as automotive parts, appliances, and furniture. The mechanical properties of ST12 include a minimum tensile strength of 270 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 140 MPa. Elongation at break is generally about 35%. The thickness of the ST12 is generally from 0.4 mm to 3.0 mm, and the width can reach 1500 mm.
